Sushi & Oden NINOYA Yurakucho(寿司トおでん にのや 有楽町店)

A Steaming Bowl of Ago-Dashi Found Beneath the Yurakucho Tracks

It has been a while since my last post.
Today, I’d like to share a short visit to “Sushi & Oden NINOYA Yurakucho”, a cozy spot I stumbled upon by chance.

Located beneath the Yurakucho train tracks, the restaurant caught my eye while I was wandering around looking for an early dinner after finishing work earlier than usual.
The warm glow of the lights and the navy-blue noren at the entrance instantly drew me in.

Creative Sushi, Not the Traditional Style — Yet Worth Trying

Although the place serves both sushi and oden,
the sushi here leans more toward creative, playful variations rather than classic Edomae-style pieces.

If you’re looking for traditional craftsmanship, you might prefer another shop,
but their unique offerings make browsing the menu surprisingly enjoyable.

The first dish I ordered was the seared vinegared mackerel pressed sushi (aburi shimesaba oshizushi).

Served on red vinegared rice, the aroma that rises when the mackerel is lightly torched is wonderfully appetizing.

Their Signature Oden Is Served All Year Round

Naturally, I also ordered their signature oden.

The steam rising from the large oden pot behind the counter,
along with the rich aroma of ago-dashi (flying fish broth), sets the tone of the meal the moment you walk in.

Watching the staff carefully handle each ingredient adds to the charm of this place.

The broth is genuinely delicious—
so much so that I ended up ordering additional pieces even after I was already quite full.

The standouts for me were:

    Thick Tochio-age oden

Torafugu (tiger puffer) and fried mochi oden

The Tochio-age is thick and juicy, soaking up the broth beautifully.
The pairing of torafugu and fried mochi offers a refined yet comforting combination of flavors.

    Tip: Reservations Are a Must

One thing to note: the restaurant gets very busy even on weekdays.

I walked in around 4:30 PM and managed to get a seat,
but by 5 PM, several customers were turned away because the restaurant was already fully booked.

If you’re planning a visit, I highly recommend calling ahead or making an online reservation.

    Summary

Although I discovered the place by chance,
both the creative sushi and the carefully prepared oden left a strong impression.
The ago-dashi oden, in particular, is something I’d gladly return for.

Casual and easy to enter, yet serving surprisingly refined dishes—
NINOYA is a great find beneath the Yurakucho tracks.
