Seasonal Sashimi and Oden at “Hi to Tsuki” in Omihachiman(鮮魚とおでん 陽と月)

izakaya

Just a short walk from JR Omihachiman Station, “Hi to Tsuki” is a refined Japanese-style izakaya known for its fresh sashimi and delicately prepared oden. True to its name, which means “Sun and Moon,” the restaurant offers dishes that harmonize seasonal ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and elegant presentation.

The oden is gently seasoned with flavorful broth that soaks into every ingredient. The sashimi platter, featuring fresh fish delivered daily, highlights the natural umami of each cut. Be sure to pair your meal with local sake from the Omi region for the full experience.

Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious — I wanted to try more, but the dishes in the photos alone left me completely satisfied and full.

The atmosphere is warm and calm, with both counter seating and cozy horigotatsu-style private rooms. It’s a great place for couples, families, or small groups. The staff is attentive, and the pacing of the meal allows for a relaxed and pleasant dining experience.

🍶 “If you’re looking to enjoy authentic Japanese comfort food in Shiga, this place is a must-visit.”

If you ever find yourself in Omihachiman, don’t miss this gem.
