Wakayama’s Famous Green Onion Ramen – Marui -Junibanchō Branch-(まるイ 十二番丁店)

ramen

Just a short walk from Wakayama Station, Marui Junibanchō Branch is a local favorite known for its signature ramen topped with a mountain of fresh green onions.

Out of all the Wakayama-style ramen I’ve tried, this is hands down my personal favorite.

The soup is a tonkotsu-shoyu (pork bone and soy sauce) base, rich but not too heavy.

The generous heap of green onions adds a refreshing contrast and helps balance the richness.

The aroma of the green onions alone is enough to boost your appetite.

The noodles are thin and straight, pairing perfectly with the broth and creating an ideal balance with the green onions.

🥢 “A rich pork broth and crisp green onions — this bowl is seriously addictive and hard to stop eating once you start.”

The shop is small and cozy, but turnover is quick, and it’s always busy with both locals and tourists.
